As a series of commemorations of its 42nd anniversary, PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) collaborated with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) DKI Jakarta Province and the Pancoran Community Health Center, South Jakarta, to hold blood donation activities and health checks.
The activity, which is an embodiment of the BUMN Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) and Health Safety and Environment (HSE) Rekind Program, was attended by 156 employees of the government-owned EPC (Engineering, Procurement Construction) Company.
“All of these activities are part of a series of commemorations for Rekind’s 42nd anniversary, which prioritizes TJSL activities as one of the main programs of the Ministry of BUMN, as well as a form of contribution from state-owned companies to society. Apart from that, this activity is also our way to further campaign awareness for all Rekind employees about the importance of a healthy lifestyle. “We appreciate the positivity of all participants who took part in this blood donation and health check activity.” said Yusairi, Director of Operations & Technology/Development of Rekind after participating in a blood donation activity at the ROB II Building, 1st Floor, Rekind Head Office, Thursday (13/7).
This man, who is known to like sports, believes that blood donation and health checks have positive implications, not only for society, but also for employees. “Apart from improving blood flow and maintaining heart condition, this activity is also a form of appeal to employees to prioritize healthy living habits and have social sensitivity or empathy,” said Yusairi.
In carrying out the Blood Donation activity, of the 84 people who registered, 74 of them were declared successful in taking part in the donation activity. Meanwhile, 10 other people were declared dead because they did not pass the health check. Those who did not pass were directed to join 72 other employees to take part in a health examination.
The health examination is in the form of HIV/AIDS VCT (Voluntary Counseling and Testing), which is a series of examinations to find out whether a person is positive or negative for HIV/AIDS. The examination is confidential and voluntary. This means that the decision to carry out an examination is a person’s choice and he has an absolute right to privacy.
“VCT HIV/AIDS also has a specific aim to increase employee knowledge and eliminate negative stigma and discrimination against people diagnosed with HIV AIDS. “On the other hand, this effort is also in compliance with government regulations regarding the prevention and control of HIV AIDS in the workplace,” said Dr. Afrionaldi, Internal Doctor and HSE Rekind Support Team.
In the health examination activity initiated by the Community Development & TJSL Division, HSE Rekind and the Pancoran Community Health Center also carried out phlegm analysis with TCM (Rapid Molecular Test) for TB. TCM is a tool that can replace TB diagnostic tests via a microscope. This test is carried out to check the germs in the patient’s sputum, whether the patient is positive for TB or not. Apart from that, this activity also carried out special women’s pap smears as well as blood sugar and blood pressure checks.
This blood donation and health examination activity is in accordance with the principles that must be prioritized in TJSL. “Hopefully, through donor activities and health checks, we can provide great benefits for both Rekind employees and our brothers and sisters in need,” explained Rekind VP Community Development & TJSL Herman Susatyo.
Regarding workers’ health conditions, apart from health checks, Rekind also requires all its employees, both in projects and at head office, to carry out medical check-ups every year. This effort is made to determine the health status of employees, as well as to anticipate serious illnesses in the future.
The HSE Rekind division is also intensely prioritizing a program entitled HSE-e Board. This application is a means or media used to directly monitor whether HSE activities are consistently carried out in all projects carried out by Rekind. One of the monitoring activities is related to the use of HSE Passports. HSE Passport is a journal containing training orientation, certification and health conditions of each worker. With the HSE Passport, it will be easier for superiors to determine that workers are capable of working anywhere and anytime.
