For its commitment and consistency in work safety, PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) was awarded the Zero Accident or Zero Work Accident award by the Ministry of Manpower, representing the government of the Republic of Indonesia.
This award was awarded by the Directorate General of Manpower & K3, Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, at the 2023 Occupational Safety and Health Awards (K3 Awards) at The Tribrata – The Opus Grand Ballroom, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Thursday (22/6).
The K3 Awards are awards in the field of K3 Norms (Occupational Safety and Health) for companies that are considered to consistently implement the K3 Program and are successful in preventing work accidents (zero work accidents) within a period of 3 consecutive years (9 November 2020 – 31 December 2022) with total working hours (JKO) reaching 1,343,551 hours without accidents.
The government’s assessment criteria are focused on Rekind’s work activities in the construction and development of the RDMP RU VI – Balongan Phase-1 Project: CDU Light Distillate Section Upgrading, in Balongan, Indramayu, West Java.
“Rekind, as is the nature of companies involved in the EPC business, has very high risks. Therefore, we are always committed to consistently implementing Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Protection programs. Alhamdulillah, this commitment has given birth to another achievement by achieving the Zero Accident Award in the Balongan CDU Project carried out by Rekind. “This is very encouraging,” said Rekind President Director Triyani Utaminingsih, who is often called Yani.
Regarding workers’ health conditions, Rekind also requires all its employees, both in projects and in the home office, to carry out medical check-ups every year. This effort is made to determine the health status of employees, as well as to anticipate serious illnesses in the future.
Rekind also prioritizes Safety Induction for anyone who visits, both to the project location and Rekind’s home office. This Safety Induction is an explanation and briefing about K3 relating to potential dangers, hazard control, required personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency response, and rescue procedures.
In HSE-e Board Rekind also implements the Contractor Safety Management System (CSMS). CSMS is a K3 system that Rekind applies to sub-contractors who take part in project activities carried out by Rekind.
This CSMS is a document that contains a mechanism to control, monitor and improve the implementation/implementation of the K3LL program. This system is outlined in 1 (one) work document containing explanations of occupational safety and health, reports, audits, along with certified K3 experts and those related to it.
Throughout the history of its journey in project activities, Rekind has often received Zero Accident or zero accident awards. In 2021, this subsidiary of Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) was awarded two awards at once. Rekind received the first award through development activities at the Lombok Steam Power Plant (PLTU) CFSPP – FTP-2 Project, in East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, with the achievement of 2,160,863 person-hours working without accidents, starting from June 1 2019 to 31 August 2020.
The second award was obtained through the implementation of the Oil & Gas Flare Relocation Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) project in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, with the achievement of 1,857,635 person-hours working without accidents, starting from February 1 2019 to December 31 2020.
In 2019, by the Regional Government of West Sumatra and the Ministry of Manpower, Rekind was also awarded the Zero Accident Award in the K3 program which achieved 3,187,432 working hours without accidents, in the construction of the Muara Laboh Geothermal 1 x 80 MW Project, starting from January 1 2016 to 31 December 2018.
“Rekind realizes that the success of implementing HSE really depends on the cooperation of all parties, including the project team, project owner and work partners such as subcontractors. “This success and collaboration also really determine every achievement in project activities,” stressed Yani.
