PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) has again emphasized its role in supporting the government to improve the quality of national education in the country. One of the efforts made by the government’s only EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) Company is by transferring its knowledge and experience in the field of industrial design and engineering.
This time, the target was aimed at students at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia. Apart from supporting government education programs, this effort is also carried out as a form of responding to classic challenges faced by the world of education in Indonesia, which often does not link and match with the world of business and industry (DUDI).
“In our opinion, this step needs to be taken since college, with the hope of producing a workforce that is ready to go directly into the relevant industry, both from a technical, scientific and attitude perspective,” explained Rekind’s President Director, Triyani Utaminingsih on the sidelines of signing the Letter. of Intent (LOI) Education between Rekind and the Faculty of Engineering, University of Indonesia (FTUI), at the Multipurpose Building, Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UI Campus, Depok, Thursday (14/12).
In front of, the Dean of the UI Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, IPU, Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, UI Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Bambang Heru Susanto and UI Faculty of Engineering Cooperation Manager, Dr.-Ing. Ir. Dalhar Susanto, a woman who is familiarly called Yani, emphasized that a number of Rekind’s best personnel have been prepared to be actively involved in the teaching and learning process on campus. So, these students will get direct exposure from experienced practitioners in the EPC field. The Rekind engineers who will teach are considered to have truly mastered theory, practice and experience in the EPC field. So, they are believed to be able to handle the gap between theory and reality in the field.
“Rekind is a pioneer in industrial design and engineering in the country. In acquiring EPC competency, Rekind started by becoming an apprentice at a Japanese EPC company that had extensive experience in the world. “The intention of Rekind’s founding fathers was for this country to have good EPC capabilities that are on an international level,” he stressed.
However, you need to know the fact, in acquiring competence, it is not obtained through the transfer of knowledge from foreign EPC companies to Rekind, but ‘seizing knowledge.’ Seizing this in the true sense.
In the early days of the 1980s, the early generation of Rekind seniors had to sit right next to foreign engineers and watch closely what and how they were doing. Without that, they (foreign EPC companies) don’t want to or it’s very difficult to share knowledge. However, thanks to its expertise and perseverance, in approximately 10 years Rekind was able to become the main EPC contractor in the 1990s. This means that Indonesia has officially acquired complete EPC competence. “In short, Rekind is the right partner to share knowledge, skills and attitudes with FTUI students,” explained Yani.
