PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) is developing a breakthrough. The latest breakthrough that is being developed is the 3D Review Management System (3DRMS), where management and monitoring are carried out centrally and digitally.

This step was taken as Rekind’s commitment to carrying out its business transformation through its best innovation role. 3DRMS is a platform development based on EDOCS (Electronic Documents Application, which was previously developed) which functions to manage and monitor internal (main contractor) and external (client/project owner) Review Comments on 3DRMS.

Through 3DRMS, every recorded review comment can be monitored based on the status of the comment, thereby increasing awareness and participation from other disciplines or fields in determining closing review comments. “It is believed that the presence of this innovation can support the implementation of the business transformation that we are currently developing, especially in supporting project activities whose emphasis is on time, on budget, and quality,” explained Rekind’s President Director, Triyani Utaminingsih.

During project execution, there are milestones based on the project contract document, namely 3D Model Review. The 3D Model Review itself aims to verify the completeness of the items modeled by the contractor according to the project specifications at each stage of the model review (30%, 60%, and 90%). At each stage of the model review, there is also a checklist made by the contractor to check the completeness of the items and what things need to be reviewed with the client during the 3D Model Review.

On the other hand, 3DRMS is also present to support plant project design verification, check items, and check the design according to the specifications determined by the project owner. So, the client team (plant operator and maintenance personnel) can review by considering safety, operability, constructability, and maintainability aspects.

3DRMS itself opens up the potential for design changes that have an impact on Cost and Schedule. However, according to Triyani Utaminingsih, the 3DRMS implemented is not yet completely optimal because it often faces several obstacles, such as information that is not conveyed optimally and a lack of monitoring of this activity. “Therefore, to optimize project activities and support Rekind’s business transformation, digitalization, and centralization of management and monitoring of the 3D Model Review Comment which was developed through 3DRMS is needed,” added Triyani Utaminingsih.

Anything, including project activities, if it is not managed well, the impact is very large. Imagine, if each work discipline stalled, because it was not well coordinated, how much time would be wasted, and how much budget would be wasted because of the lack of coordination?

“The efforts needed to manage, track, and monitor the progress of comments can be done automatically and centrally through this digitization. 3DRMS also functions as a decision support system for better decision making,” she said.
